Critical Thinking

When i typed in the HTML code and then opened it in the browser a banner with an anchor showed up, there was also a heading "LUNA" and there was supposed to be an image below and image in the banner above the heading. But since both images were not in my computer or the link given couldn't find the image the images showed as a square with a question mark.

What's the difference between HTTP and HTML?

HTTP stands for Hyper Text Transfer Protocol, which is in every link in the WWW. It basically sets the "rules" for webpages. HTML stands for Hyper Text Markup Language, which is the languages in which webpages are written in.

What is a browser?


A web browser is a software application for retrieving, presenting, and traversing information resources on the World Wide Web. Examples of web browsers are: Internet Explorer, Safari, Opera, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Netscape.

What is W3C?

What does W3C do?
Developing protocols and guidelines that ensure long-term growth for the Web. W3C's standards define key parts of what makes the World Wide Web work.

Where is W3C located?
There are three institutions, "host" W3C: MIT (Cambridge, MA, USA), ERCIM (Sophia-Antipolis, France), and Keio University (near Tokyo, Japan).

How was W3C funded?
W3C Member dues, research grants and other sources of private and public funding, individual donations of money and equipment.

What is the difference between www and W3C?
WWW is the World Wide Web, which is an information space in which the items of interest , referred to as sources, are identified by global identifiers called Uniform Resource Identifiers (URI). The Internet is a global system of interconnected computer networks that exchange data by packet switching using TCP/IP

What does it mean that Tim Berners-Lee invented the Web?
In 1989 Bereners-Lee wrote a proposal for a system called the World Wide Web. He designed and wrote the first server, Web browser and Web page. He also wrote the first specifications for URLs, HTTP and HTML.

What is the difference between an open standard and open source software?
Opens source refers to software, when open standards refers to documents.

What is the difference between Web and the Net?

The difference between the Net and the Web is that the Net is a network of networks. It is basically made of computers and cables connecting them. The Web is the information that is sent through the network to another computer(s). The information can be anything from text to sound and videos.

My expectations for Web Design

In Web Design i expect to learn how to create stuff like websites, animations etc. I think this class will be very interesting, because this class seems very cool and I think it will teach me useful things that I can use in the future. I'm hoping to pass this class with a grade of 90 or above.
